Remington Rider Pocket Conversion in .32 RF

 

NRA Excellent Remington Rider Double Action Pocket, Original Factory Conversion. Finish is all blue instead of nickel, which makes it scarce. This Remington is pictured and discussed in "The Karl Moldenhauer Collection of Remington Arms" and "Remington, The Golden Age of Collecting". Because of its condition very hard to improve on. Previously in the Karl Moldenhauer collection. Barrel and cylinder have 98% blue, frame 80%. Completely original, rare and beautiful Remington. Manufactured in approximately 1873.

Remington Rider Pocket Conversion in .32 RF

 

NRA Excellent Remington Rider Double Action Pocket, Original Factory Conversion. Like most original factory conversion nickel finished. This example has the rare 2" barrel with its own, shortened address: REMINGTON'S ILION N.Y. Barrel, frame and cilinder 98% nickel, hammer and trigger 85% blue. Grips are near perfect. Hard to find Remington Rider, manufactured approximately in 1873. 

 

     


 

Remington Rider Pocket

 

NRA Fine Remington Rider Double Action Pocket, five shot percussion in caliber .31. Early Rider, manufactured in 1860 in very good condition. Only a few of the original percussion Rider Pockets survived in this example's condition. Blued barrel, frame and cylinder. Original finish on barrel and cylinder 50%, on frame 20%. Sharp markings and barrel address. Mechanically both in single and double action perfect.

Remington New Model Police Factory Conversion in .38 RF

 

NRA Excellent Remington Improved New Model Police, Original Factory Conversion. Retains 99% nickel finish. Rosewood grips have 95% original varnish. This New Model Police features a 3 1/2" barrel, the shortest one available. The barrel address reads from cylinder to muzzle, up side down in a manner of speaking. An usual way of marking the barrel, but not unique. Exquisite New Model Police, made in 1870.

 

   

    


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 1*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Elliot Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 1, 3rd Issue* in Original Pipe Casing. Early Remington, in original, very rare Pipe Case (a.k.a. Pipe Stem Case). All nickel (98%) with mother of pearl grips. The 3th Issue with extractor, and barrel address on the barrel's sides, is one of the least manufactured types. Presumably not more than one hundred. Barrel's right side: E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y, left side: ELLIOT'S PATENT DEC.12.1865. made in 1869/1870.

 

 


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 2*

 

NRA Very Good, factory engraved (light scroll) Remington Elliot Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 2*. Early Remington with two line address: E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION N.Y. ELLIOT'S PATENT DEC 12th 1865. No original blue finish left. Probably because of diligent cleaning, which did give it an alsmost nickel plated look. Scarce wood grips are very good. The number Models 2 made between 1870 and 1888 is approximately 15.000. An unknown number of them factory engraved.                                                            

 


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 2*

 

NRA Excellent, factory engraved (dot-punch) Remington Elliot Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, also a Model 2*. Nickel 99%, blued hammer and trigger 80% and mother of pearl grips. The dot-punch type engraving is found less often than the light scroll type pictured above.

 

 


  

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 3*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 3, 1st Issue*. Nickel with niter blue small parts. Nickel 98% and gorgeous blue 95%. Between 1889 and 1911 an estimated 70.000 Models 3 were manufactured, 8000 of which were 1st Issues. Barrel address (Short Line): REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION N.Y. 

 

  


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 3*

 

NRA Very Fine Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 3, 2nd Issue*. This example does not meet the Excellent standards because of its discoloured grips due to (sun)light. Retaining nickel plated finish on frame and barrels 98%, blue on small parts 80%. Out of 70.000 manufactured Models 3, some 12.000 are 2nd Issues with barrel address: REMINGTON ARMS Co. ILION N.Y. All other types have the usual "CO", rather than "Co" stamped. 

   

 


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 3*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 3, 4th Issue* in Original Box. Superb and beautiful Model 3 in original box, including the original wrapping paper. Inside the lid is written in pencil: 8/11/9. It is very likely this means: August 11, 1909, considering the 4th Issue barrel address: REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION,N.Y. (Long Line Crowded), which indicates manufacturing around that year. This is the only type of which no estimate number of production is known. High pollish blue on barrels 95%, frame 70% and perfect hard rubber grips. Minty bore suggests this example was never fired. 

 

    


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 3*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 3, 4th Issue* with vintage Holster. According to Matthews' categories this too is a 4th Issue, with a small difference in the address, which makes it a little longer towards the hings: REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION,  N.  Y. (Long Line Gap). With an estimated production of 30.000, this is the most used address in the Model 3 range. This example is near mint with 99% nickel, 98% high polish blue on small parts and perfect mother of pearl grips. Manufactured in 1905 - 1910.

 

   


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 4*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 4, 1st Issue*. Model 4 was manufactured, or at least sold between 1912 and 1935, after Union Metallic Cardridge Company took control of Remington Arms. When the actual production was brought to a close exactly, is unknown but the last Double Deringers were sold up to 1935. The 1st Issue is serial numbered 1 to 3000, which is the total number manufactured. Address: REMINGTON ARMS - U.M.C. CO. ILION, N.Y.  Estimated year of this examples production 1912. Nickel finish on barrels and frame 98%, niter blue on small parts 90% with perfect hard rubber grips.

  

   


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 4*

 

NRA Very Good as Custom Cased and Gold Plated Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 4, 1st Issue*. Another example of a Model 4, 1st Issue. Gold plated and furnished with its own case, probably custom ordered just after its manufaturing, as it has engraved initials in the backstrap. Gold plating on barrels and frame 95%, niter blue on small parts 99%. Celluloid, a then new material, was used to made the grips out of and are original to the gun. Good looking and unique Double Deringer, presumably also made in 1912.

  

   


 

Remington Elliot Double Derringer Model 4*

 

NRA Excellent Remington Double Deringer in .41 RF Short, Model 4, 2nd Issue*. The 2nd Issue's serial numbers are preceded by an "L" (aka "L-prefix"). Estimated production 27.000. Barrel address: REMINGTON ARMS - U.M.C. CO. ILION, N.Y. This example was made around the year 1922. Vulnerable parkerized blue 85%, splendid niter blue on small parts and perfect hard rubber grips.
